CEODr. Roberto Javier Nicolalde, Ph.D.

Javier is Founder and CEO of Nicolalde R&D LLC, which he founded in 2010 to develop innovative medical, public health and emergency response technologies. Previously he was an assistant professor of radiology at the Dartmouth Medical School and a human-machine systems engineer specialized in health care delivery systems, new medical devices, and medical information technologies. Dr. Nicolalde teaches engineering courses at Oregon State University.

He is a graduate of Oregon State University where he obtained a Masters degree in Human Systems Engineering, and in Information Systems Engineering. His work at OSU involved the study of pilots’ multi-tasking performance under high workload conditions and the development of Information Systems to facilitate the development and certification process of aircrafts with regards to human factors considerations (NASA, and FAA funded work).

He received his PhD from Dartmouth College in Health Systems in 2010. His work at Dartmouth focuses on the design and development of a new emergency response diagnostic technology. His PhD work revolved around the development of the procedures and system consideration for integrating the new diagnostic technology into the emergency response system.

Aleksey Shaporev, Ph.D.

Research Scientist

Dr. Shaporev has extensive experience in the research and development of mobile health technologies. His professional goal is to contribute to the field of mobile health (mHealth). After 3-year postdoctoral training at Bioengineering Department of Clemson University he has an expertise in design and prototyping of patients remote monitoring devices, development of firmware for these devices, development and deployment of smartphone (iOS, Android) applications, and network services for applications in mHealth. He received his Masters in Science degree in 2006 from the Lomonosov Moscow State University and his Ph.D. in Manufacturing and Information Technology in 2009 from the Kournakov Institute of General and

Inorganic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences. Formerly, he was a post-doctoral Research Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Clemson University.


Alexander Knapp, B.E.

Software Engineer

Mr. Knapp is an experienced software engineer, with expertize in web technologies, mobile development, databases, and data structures. He will work with Dr. Nicolalde on the development of the back-end infrastructure to support the data integration and visualization of clinical relevant information. He will assist in the development of the user interface and front-end mobile platform.

Mr. Knapp has been working at Nicolalde R&D for over 3 years and he is the main back-end developer for one of the company successfully commercialized SBIR products, the mRendering platform for delivering objective based education and medical education via mobile devices.

Mr. Knapp holds an Engineering degree from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College.


Reid Henderson, B.A.

Software Engineer

Mr. Henderson is an experienced software engineer, with expertize in web technologies, mobile development, databases. He will work on with Dr. Nicolalde on the development of the front-end visualization layer to present information to the different user groups.

Mr. Henderson has been working at Nicolalde R&D for over 3 years and he is the main front-end developer for one of the company successfully commercialized SBIR products, the mRendering platform for delivering objective based education and medical education via mobile devices.

Mr. Henderson holds a Compute Science degree from the University of St. Andrews, in Scotland.
